Prototype Sponge Park Planned for NYC's Gowanus Canal » The Epoch Times

Havent seen enough coverage of this: great example of soft infrastructure that benefits environment and commununity and is relatively low cost.
The Gowanus Canal, nearby a waste-water pump, May 2013. New York city council members and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are planning on building a "sponge park," designed to capture storm water that flows from 2nd Street to the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn.
